CONNECTION BASICS
Why am I lagging with fast internet?
Download speed tells you how quickly a large transfer arrives. A match also needs quick, consistent responses, so a fast plan can still feel rough.
Common causes
- High or changing latency: distance and busy routes add delay.
- Jitter: packets arrive at uneven times, causing rubber-banding.
- Packet loss: missing packets must be resent.
- Bufferbloat: an upload or stream makes ping jump under load.
- Wi‑Fi interference: distance, walls and congestion create spikes.
Try this order
- Run a Ping2GG Full check over the connection you play on.
- Pause cloud backups and downloads; compare idle and under-load latency.
- Test Ethernet, or move closer to the access point and use 5/6 GHz.
- Restart the router, update firmware and enable sensible QoS/SQM if supported.
- Compare another time of day and check official game status.
Remember
Ping2GG measures Cloudflare, not your game server. Use it to find patterns and choose the next test.
